I Rise is Celebrating 5 Years of Empowerment and Impact!

Since day one, I Rise has been committed to building bright futures for survivors of human trafficking and exploitation—and we’ve made history doing it. Since our inception, I Rise has:

  • Developed the nation’s first workforce development curriculum specifically for survivors of complex trauma

  • Launched our region's first trauma-informed workforce development program

  • Hosted 6 cohorts of students

  • Celebrated 17 graduates launching from the program to now work in fields like cosmetology, real estate, healthcare, business, and behavioral health.

  • Assisted 10 graduates to pursue further education toward careers in their desired field

  • Connected survivors to financial, legal, parenting, medical, mental health, housing, transportation, and disaster relief resources to support long-term healing and growth

  • Conducted groundbreaking research on the relationship between economic abuse and sexual exploitation

  • Presented our work at national and international conferences

  • Worked collaboratively with over 30 anti-trafficking organizations in the area to help move the needle in combatting human trafficking in Tampa Bay

As we celebrate this journey, we’re excited to announce two new programs launching in 2025:

  1. The Rising Leaders Network, launching in May, a professional and leadership development networking group, just for survivors.

  2. Girl Rising, launching in June, a new program empowering adolescents with financial literacy and life skills to help prevent economic abuse and exploitation.

I Rise exists to support survivors of violence and exploitation in gaining financial independence and upward mobility. We do this through connecting survivors to one another, to education and employment opportunities, and to the community. YOU are the community!
